November 8, 2014: White Point in San Pedro, CA is definitely one of my favorite spots to spend the day. The tide pools are a magnificent to get in touch — literally and figuratively — with sea creatures. Starfish, anemones, urchins, and other forms of sea life call this beautiful place their home.

Unfortunately, we weren’t able to see much of them during our last visit because of the high tides. It was a bit of a setback for my son who would rather spend time exploring the pools than spend a day at Disneyland. In the end, we made a day of it by checking out several other local spots before going home.

The shot you see here was taken near the northern end of White Point, right about there the trail ends. We saw the lady walk by us with her dog who seemed all too happy to be going for a walk on the rough terrain. I just happened to look back and saw she was sitting near the cliff, enjoying the day. I quickly switched over to my 55-200mm zoom and sneaked in a few shots with this one being my favorite.

White Point – Royal Palms Beach is located at 1799 Paseo del Mar in San Pedro, CA.
